Episode 23
If you’ve never been a remote team member, you may be trying to figure out how to navigate working from home. This can include trying to figure out an ergonomic set-up for your office, communicating with your team, staying focused and on task, and learning new tools and technologies.
First things first, if you have a question, don’t hesitate to reach out to your manager or colleagues. Second, if you’re asking yourself: “Am I doing this right?” … there is no one-size fits all answer. Working from home can bring with it different challenges for different people, it’s important to find a way that works for you and to share that with your team.
Tips
- Develop an employee user profile that will outline how you like to work, the time you will, how you like to receive communications, and any other relevant information to support working as a remote team. Do this as a team!
- Create a daily routine; commute to a designated workspace, take breaks and eat lunch; sign-off - no one's expecting you to work 24/7.
- Ensure you have all the right equipment at home to connect effectively with your team and to get your work done.
- Embrace the perks of working remotely; head outside for a walk, put on a load of laundry, embrace the flexibility!
